what is...

laser resurfacing

Laser resurfacing is a non-surgical, non-invasive cosmetic procedure designed to rejuvenate and revitalize your skin. It works by removing damaged skin cells, promoting the growth of new, healthy skin, and stimulating collagen production, which helps improve skin elasticity and firmness. The treatment effectively addresses a variety of skin concerns, such as wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scars, and uneven skin tone, resulting in a rejuvenated and revitalized complexion.

We offer ablative laser resurfacing, which is a type of laser treatment that uses a high-intensity laser beam, such as a carbon dioxide (CO2) or erbium laser, to vaporize the damaged outer layers of the skin. The heat generated by the laser also penetrates the underlying skin layers, stimulating collagen production. As the treated area heals, new, healthy skin cells are formed, resulting in a smoother, more youthful complexion. Ablative laser resurfacing typically provides more dramatic results from one session than non-ablative laser resurfacing that may require multiple treatments.

Benefits

  1. Reverses skin damage & signs of aging: evens out skin tone and texture, and helps to reduce the appearance of scarring, acne- and age-spots, while minimizing wrinkles and fine lines for a smooth, radiant complexion.
  2. Firmer, more elastic skin: stimulates collagen production:to improve skin's elasticity and firmness from within.
  3. Smaller pores: helps reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, resulting in a smoother and more refined skin texture.
  4. Faster results: compared to other treatments, laser resurfacing often provides visible results in a shorter timeframe compared to alternative skin rejuvenation treatments, such as chemical peels or microdermabrasion.
  5. Low downtime: With minimal recovery time required, laser resurfacing allows patients to return to their daily activities quickly.

How does Laser Resurfacing work?

Laser resurfacing is done only after the patient is properly numbed with a topical numbing cream in the treatment area. The numbing process may take around an hour to take full effect. The laser resurfacing process starts while the patient is wearing protective eyewear. Patients will simply relax while the laser treats the problem areas. Patients may feel some warmth, but the process isn't painful thanks to the numbing cream. The laser treatment takes under an hour for most patients, even if the whole face is treated.

Can you get laser resurfacing and other treatments at the same time?

Laser therapy works very well with other types of cosmetic treatments. It is often combined with non-invasive treatments like Botox and dermal fillers. Laser skin resurfacing can also be done at the same time as a surgical facelift and/or surgical necklift. The loose skin and muscles in the face and neck can be tightened during the surgery while the laser resurfacing improves the appearance of the newly tightened skin overall.

What is the recovery period for laser resurfacing look like?

After the laser resurfacing procedure, patients can expect some redness, swelling, and mild discomfort, which will gradually subside within a few days to a week. We will provide comprehensive aftercare instructions to promote a smooth recovery process. It is essential to protect your skin from sun exposure during the healing process to ensure optimal results. Most patients can return to work and resume normal activities within a week following the procedure.

Botox

Botox treatments involve the use of botulinum toxin injections, a purified protein derived from Clostridium botulinum, to temporarily relax facial muscles and smooth out wrinkles and fine lines. This minimally invasive procedure is primarily used for addressing dynamic wrinkles, which are formed due to repeated muscle movements, such as frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines.

Fillers

Filler treatments involve the use of injectable dermal fillers to restore volume, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance facial features. These fillers are typically made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps maintain skin hydration and elasticity. Fillers can be used to address a variety of cosmetic concerns, such as nasolabial folds, marionette lines, sunken cheeks, thin lips, and under-eye hollows.
